This Devotionals speaks loud. Thoughts can take a person to the highest mount or bring him to his perish. I think about everything all the the time, and at the same time. This is why I try to stay positive in all I do and surround myself with positive people. But in the end the only thing that brings me peace and surety, properly guiding my thoughts is the good book.
A great reminder that it is important to not only keep our actions aligned with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but our thoughts as well. To really have the mind of Christ involves deliberately working to think, dwell and meditate on the good, noble, and pure thoughts.
We started our staff meeting, reviewing today’s devotional and the discussion was sooo good. This topic is so important to me personally and as a steward of God’s business. This line in the devotional stood out to me: “Our thoughts are so powerful that they can even override our destiny”… imagine changing the course of our lives with wrong thinking! No wonder Romans 12:2 admonish us to not conform to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind, so that we can prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. This reminds me, just like in Prov. 18:21 it says life and death is in the power of the tongue, key to fulfilling our God given destiny is in the power of our thoughts. Team members commented, thinking correctly is not easy. It’s not just naming, claiming it and receiving it, it’s about being intentional, spending time in daily devotion and prayer. Thank you Lord for this wonderful insight and reminder.
This is a great follow-up to last week’s devotion about Renewing your mind. Another scripture that comes to mind is 1 Cor 10:5, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
take captive every thought… not just a few but we need to filter our minds at every point of input. As in Job 31:1 “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman.“
What other inputs do we need to make a covenant with to filter our thoughts and prevent them from going down an ungodly path. We have the mind of Christ! We need to stay focused on that!
Other inputs… our Ears, what are we listening to? our touch “be careful little hands what you do” goes the Sunday school song, our sense of smell? are there smells that trigger thoughts that distract you? All these things are meant for good. We need to be diligent to maintain and also be encouraged by others. “Iron sharpens iron so shall one man sharpen another” Prov 27:17…. engage in Life Groups, get a coach, mentor or accountability partner and make your mind a fertile ground and grow!
